Photorealistic prints are vibrant patterns that are actually photos that have been manipulated in Photoshop to look like a wash. You can use photorealistic prints almost anywhere on cousins, sofas, jeans… They are great to decorate your home if you don’t like classical motive patterns or if you would like to create a bit more romantic or eclectic décor.

If you haven’t heard about Marimekko, you have definitely seen one of their famous prints like for example Unikko print or simply-striped red and white Jokapoika shirt.
Marimekko is Finnish textiles and fashion company based in Helsinki. It was founded in 1951 by Viljo and Armi Ratia. They are particularly noted for brightly-coloured printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women’s garments and in home furnishings. They have made a great contribution in fashion in 60’s and 70’s. Even Jackie Kennedy has worn a few of their famous dresses and posed in a red sleeveless dress for the cover of Sports Illustrated.
What I love about Marimekko is uniqueness, simplicity and the quality of design which has a classical and nostalgic fell to it. On the web site they have stated: “It’s relatively rare to be born a classic – usually it’s something you grow into, sparking comments, turning heads, gaining popularity. But there are those serendipitous, surprising instances when a product is a classic the moment it sees the light of day. What that really says is that classics are born of a unique convergence of people, culture, attitudes, and appreciation.”

Fashion film “Fade into you” is the newest project by Pierre Debusschere. He stated: “The inspiration starting point (for the shoot) was Raf Simons’ last Jil Sander show and the amazing flower installation that Mark Colle designed for it, so it was really important for Robbie and I to have Mark with us on this project. We also took the inspiration further by developing the idea of the femininity in flowers. For sure there is some romantic aspect, but flowers can also be sensual, seductive, empowering, heady, but poisonous too… I was very happy with Zuzanna as she was the perfect model to give us a wide range of poses and expressions in relation to the styling and the flowers. I wanted the music to reflective too of the variety of character a flower can have, you have the lyrics that show you the softer side (voice Oriane Leclercq) and the music which for me is as seductive as a dark orchid.” I must say this is one of the most inspiring fashion videos I have ever seen and I just love the combination of human and nature (flower) sensuality.

New york-based photographers Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg have created GIFs as part of their self-termed art form coined ‘cinemagraphs’. A Cinemagraph is an image that contains within itself a living moment that allows a glimpse of time to be experienced and preserved endlessly. Marrying original content photography with the desire to communicate more to the viewer birthed the cinemagraph process. Starting in-camera, the artists take a traditional photograph and combine a living moment into the image through the isolated animation of multiple frames. To quote supermodel Coco Rocha “it’s more than a photo but not quite a video”.

These collages are part of art collection called Secret Garden made by German artist Enrico Nagel. Flowers and fashion editorials are transformed into surreal works of art. The models are transformed into abstract figures. Their heads are replaced with flowers, so they become hybrids half man and half flower. Mixture of nature and human brings fashion back to nature.

Well there has been quite a big buzz about new Christian Dior’s fashion show in Paris, for fall/winter 2012 couture collection. The collection is amazing, I don’t have anything bad to say about it, but what amazed me when I first saw the pictures from the fashion show was the decoration of the show.
