I L.O.V.E.: Concrete Wallpaper

November 18, 2012 in Bed Room, Home Decor, Kitchen, Living Room, Workspace

Picture via Concrete Wall.

Concrete wallpaper can transform your walls into an entirely new and tough look. Because of its rustic look and soft shades of grey colours you can use it in almost every room, like for example in living room to create more industrial effect or kitchen to bring some elegance. Concrete wallpaper is printed in super high resolution on heavy-duty wallpaper with paper top-layer and membrane backing, colourfast and washable with a soft cloth.

All thought this concrete wallpaper can create an excellent “wow” factor in you room you have to be really careful because it won’t work with every interior, but if you manage to add enough colour and some matching furniture pieces to your place, you can make it look outstanding.

HUMLEBAEK HOUSE – Scandinavian timeless design

November 10, 2012 in Architecture, Bath Room, Bed Room, Furniture, Home Decor, Kitchen, Living Room, Workspace

This is a perfect example of Scandinavian timeless design. Clean lines and spaces with some modern furniture elements, concrete floor and rustic old wood, old brick walls, old ceiling beams represent a perfect combination of old and new, which is basic in designing a timeless Scandinavian home. I love home bright and light are spaces with some softer and warmer elements as wood and black details.

Friends apartment and other famous TV shows

August 24, 2012 in Bath Room, Bed Room, Home Decor, Kitchen, Living Room, Workspace

I think that almost everybody knows who are Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross. Of course, these are characters from “Friends” one of the best 90’s TV shows. Friends all live in the same apartment building. In between scenes shots of this building are shown, and this building is based in Grenwich Village. This building also have a small cafe on the ground floor, however this isn’t Central Perk as that was a set in LA. So did you ever wonder how their apartment looked like? A few artists have spent years sketching out the living spaces of some of the most loved U.S. sitcoms from over the decades.

Chair of the chairs

August 24, 2012 in Furniture, Home Decor

One of my favourite design periods are 50’s. Swinging fifties brought many changes in politics and design. While Europe was recovering from world war two United Sates was developing consumption which changed the whey we see and understand design.  One of the most recognised designers from that period are Charles and Ray Eames who revolutionised both furniture design and manufacturing with their range of moulded fibreglass chairs. Their one of the most recognisable chairs is Lounge Chair designed in 1956.

When I first saw these pictures I said to myself: “It looks like ice cream!” This lovely home was designed by Maria Barros. She is well known for her light, fresh, bright and cheerful design. And I must say, she just blew me away with this color palette of aqua, orange and pink, and the mix of great patterns.

“To be or not to be”

July 27, 2012 in Furniture, Home Decor

To be or not to be, that is the question?  Since Philippe Starcks famous Louis Ghost Chair became a must have item, transparent furniture is spreading like crazy in furniture design field. At the beginning I must confess I didn’t like the idea about transparent plastic (usually acrylic) furniture, at all. But after a few years I kind of started to like them, because they provide a greater feeling of spaciousness through the transmission of light through the furniture.

Here are a few really good examples how to use transparent furniture:

Home Décor color trends for 2012/2013

July 22, 2012 in Bath Room, Bed Room, Home Decor, Kitchen, Living Room, Workspace

Let’s splash some new color in your home! Change your empty white or bold colored walls in to something a bit more fresh or vibrant and you will see, what kind of difference you can make to your space just by changing your wall color.  I did a small resource about color trends for 2012/2013. I divided all colors in 3 main trend groups, so it would be easier for you to decide which color scheme would be more suitable for your precious home.

Candy Store:

This color trend is all about bright, strong, neon color shades, like for example lime green, bright yellow or pink.  They are really strong colors so they tend to draw attention so be careful and try to soften them with a bit of white color. These colors bring a boost of energy, fun and refreshing felling to your place and also a smile on your face. If you are a bit scared about its brightness try with color zoning.
